Dan Marino, Joe Montana, John Elway and Johnny Unitas were voted as the 4 greatest quarterbacks of the century, and each has signed this limited edition Quarterbacks of The Century football, which is individually numbered out of 500.
Dan Marino
After becoming the only rookie quarterback to ever start in a Pro Bowl,
it was apparent that Dan Marino would set a new standard for
quarterbacks. Seventeen consecutive seasons with the Miami Dolphins
later, Dan "The Man" Marino set 20 NFL records including becoming the
first quarterback to throw 4,000 yards in six seasons, and he
ultimately threw for 61,361 yards and 420 touchdowns. Marino was
inducted into the Football Hall of Fame in 2005.
Joe Montana
When the going got tough, the San Francisco 49ers turned to Joe
Montana. As quarterback, Montana led his team to 31 fourth quarter
come-from-behind wins, earning him the nickname "The Comeback Kid".
During his 14 years with the 49ers, he directed them to four Super Bowl
wins and won three Super Bowl MVP awards for himself. "Joe Cool" was
selected to eight Pro Bowls, a record for quarterbacks at the time, and
ended his career with the 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs with 3,409
completions, 40,551 yards and 273 touchdowns.
John Elway
Drafted with the 1st overall pick in the 1983 NFL Draft, John Elway had
a standout career with the Denver Broncos from 1983-1988. During his
career in Denver, John Elway threw for 51,475 yards and 300 touchdowns.
Named the 1987 NFL MVP, John was twice named the UPI AFL-AFC Offensive
Player of the Year, was selected to 9 Pro Bowls, and won Super Bowls
XXXII and XXXIII, earning MVP honors during Super Bowl XXXIII, throwing
for 336 yards in his last ever game in the NFL. One of the greatest
quarterbacks to ever play the game, John Elway was enshrined in the
Football Hall of Fame 2004.
Johnny Unitas
Johnny Unitas, known as the Golden Arm, was selected to 10 Pro Bowls
and was Pro Bowl MVP three times. He led the Baltimore Colts to the NFL
Championship in 1958 in the first overtime game in NFL history, which
was later referred to as "the greatest game ever played" Unitas played
